Entry 2: How are we/Canada going to be impacted from climate change?

Image
This week, we learned about climate change and greenhouse gases. The main thing that I wondered about this topic was, "How can we prove that climate change is real to people who don't believe it?".  I also questioned how Canada would be impacted from climate change. Well, to answer the first question, we look at data and graphs. Over the past decade, there has been more and more evidence that climate change exists; through graphs that showcase how much of the world's glaciers have melted or how much the average temperature has gone up since the last few decades.  When temperatures increase, weather patterns become more unpredictable; storms such as, hurricanes occur more and become more powerful.  For the second question, when comparing more recent data about temperatures with data from several decades ago, it's evident that the temperatures in Canada are rising more and more rapidly. Many records have gotten broken relating to climate change.  In July 30th 2...

Entry 1: Protecting Canada's Biodiversity and How That Affects Us:

This week, we have talked about protecting Canada's biodiversity. We watched videos, had open class discussions with agreements/disagreements between students; which were about what effects pollution and global warming might have on the environment. Also, we talked about the social, political, and environmental impacts of drilling oil. A video we watched was titled, "What is biodiversity and why is it so important?". I liked this video because it taught me about the 3 different aspects of biodiversity which are, ecosystem diversity, species diversity, and genetic diversity. I liked this video and enjoy watching videos in class because I'm an auditory and visual learner. Which means that, I learn better with pictures and when I listen to others. This video made me grasp the concept of biodiversity better and made me remember the content/information of this part of the unit. A connection that I made between what was taught was the fact that 600 species in Canada out o...

Canadian Geography- CGC1D1

Introduction: Hi, my name is Diana Ariana and this is my geography blogfolio! To start off, I'll be blogging and documenting what I'm learning using pictures, videos, and any other thoughtful documentation "device". My blog will be based on the course question of, "How does geography shape us and how do we shape geography?". For all of the 3 units we will have, I will blog about each unit question. The 3 units in this course are, physical geography, h uman geography, and lastly, natural resources and  sustainability. Throughout this course, I'm really looking forward to learning about how man-made problems such as global warming and pollution might change the lives of millions of people as well as the planet as a whole; and I hope that by the end of this semester, I will be able to think back and remember all of the useful knowledge that I gained from this course.
